Stock up on a wide range of fruits and vegetables that are readily available in Canada. Include on your list fruits and vegetables such as apples, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, and onions. These products can be used in salads, sandwiches, stir-fries, and other dishes.

Pantry Staples – Stock up with important ingredients that can be used for many meals, including rice, pasta, canned beans, canned tomatoes, vegetable broth, olive oil, vinegar, soy sauce, and spices like salt, pepper, garlic powder or oregano.

Protein Sources – Buy a variety of protein sources to include in your meals, including chicken breasts, ground beef or turkey, tuna or salmon, eggs, tofu, and lentils. Because it is recommended that each person eats two portions of fish per week, you should buy oily fish such as tuna, haddock, or mackerel.

Dairy and Eggs – Stock up on milk, yogurt, and cheese, as well as non-dairy options such as almond milk, soy yogurt and vegan cheese, depending on your dietary preferences. These ingredients are versatile, and they can be used in smoothies, breakfast bowls, baked products, and other dishes. Don’t forget about eggs, because this are essential ingredients for a quick breakfast.

Bread, Grains and Pasta – Include whole-grain bread, tortillas, wraps and the versatile pasta on your shopping list. These can be used to make sandwiches, wraps, and quick dinners such as quesadillas or panini and don’t forget about breakfast basics like oats and cereal. Buy unsweetened granola or porridge oats or oatmeal and try to avoid the Breakfast varieties that have too much sugar.

Snacks & Quick Meals – For on-the-go options, include easy and convenient snacks such as granola bars, nuts, popcorn, and fresh fruits. You can also buy simple meals such as frozen pizzas, prepackaged soups, or microwaveable dinners for those hectic days.

Condiments and Sauces – You should always stock up on a range of condiments and sauces that can be used to enhance the flavours of your meals. Ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, salsa, and salad dressings are examples of condiments. Also, consider adding popular sauces such as soy sauce or sriracha to your recipes to add a touch of flavour.

Remember that the secret to a good grocery list is to plan your meals ahead of time, taking into account your dietary preferences, cooking skills, and available time for meal preparation. With a well-rounded shopping list, you’ll be able to shop swiftly and easily prepare great meals.

You have far less on sale. We, seniors, are struggling and look forward to the weekly flyer, but there hasn't been much on there for us. Cookies pop chips etc, yes, families with kids but it doesn't do much for the old folks.

We receive the weekly GIANT TIGER flyers but they do not contain all the sale items, so I have to check my email flyer before going across town to the store on Second Line West. Good store and excellent staff!!
