Maker House Shipping Options
With so many products from hundreds of artisans, it makes sense for Maker House to make them available to as many customers as possible. That’s why you can now order your must-haves online and have them delivered to your door.
Maker House ships via Canada Post, and the shipping options available in your area should be visible during checkout. Plus, not all items listed online are available for home delivery. For example, some of them are too large or have unique characteristics and should thus be selected in person.
- Free shipping conditions
When you spend over $150 on items eligible for delivery, you benefit from free regular shipping in Canada.
- Shipping fee
The shipping fee varies based on various factors. For example, the shipping fee for smaller items that are delivered throughout North America is $5 or less. Such orders are shipped in a flat pack, and there is no tracking number. When your order includes bigger items, it is delivered as a parcel. For parcel deliveries within Ontario and Quebec, Maker House charges a flat rate of $12.95 per order.
- Shipping time
The shipping time is estimated at checkout and varies depending on your selected shipping option. The average shipping time is 2 – 7 days for orders shipped across Canada.
Local Delivery
If you don’t live far from a Maker House store, you can also take advantage of local delivery. Maker House ships locally made goods within 25km of their store location once each week. The fee for this service is $7.95. If you place such an order by midnight (ET) on Monday, it will be delivered on Tuesday.
However, if you need the products faster, just select Fast Local Delivery (by Trexity) during checkout. With this service, orders that are placed before 2 pm are delivered the same day, and those that are placed after 2 pm will be delivered the next day.
Local Pickup
Those living in Ottawa can also benefit from free local pickup. The “Local Pickup” option is displayed during checkout. The orders can be picked up at their flagship store at 987 Wellington St. W. in Hintonburg from Monday to Sunday.
Maker House will hold your order in-store for three weeks from the order date. If you don’t pick up your order within this timeframe, the retailer will cancel it. Keep in mind that there is a 25% restocking fee in such cases. The remaining 75% will be refunded back to the method of payment you used to pay for the online order.
Exchanges & Returns
If the items you ordered don’t match your expectations, don’t fit, or are not to your liking for whatever reason, you can return them. The return process differs depending on the delivery option you chose and goes as follows:
- In-store and curbside pickup purchases
If you opted for in-store or curbside pickup, the return/exchange must be made to the Hintonburg location. Most full-priced products can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of the order date. They must be in their original condition with packaging.
However, some restrictions apply. Some of the items that are not accepted for return or exchange are custom furniture, perishable items, and discounted products. Check the Exchange & Return policy page for more details on these exceptions.
- Orders delivered to your home
If you’ve ordered online and had the items delivered to your place, you can return the products within 30 days of the order date. However, you can do so only for exchange or store credit. There are no refunds for this type of order. All regularly-priced products in their original conditions qualify for this type of return.
When you return the item, you will be required to show proof of purchase. Plus, if you return it via mail, the shipping costs are your responsibility.
- Local delivery and pickup purchases
For orders that you placed online with local delivery or pickup, the terms and conditions that apply to online shipping purchases apply here as well. The only difference is that when you return an item ordered via the above-mentioned method, you can exchange it or get a refund.
